According to Costmine‘s annual labour survey, the highest salary for a mining a CEO is an incredible ~$35 million USD in 2021. Each year, Costmine surveys over 200 publicly-listed Canadian and US mining companies and broke down the size of company by market capitalization.
The survey covers companies with a market capitalization from $25 million to $100 million, $100 million to $500 million, $500 million to $1 billion, and finally $1 billion plus companies.
The $35-million dollar salary is an outlier in the industry as the average salary for CEO’s is around $7.8 million for issuers with a market cap above $1 billion, with even one CEO accepting $1. Next on the pecking order, is the vice president with a maximum total compensation $5.6 million and a minimum of $242,000.
